New Emirati Promising Players Sparkle

Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak "Mother of the Nation" President of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation Chairwoman of the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood, the international competition of FBMA CUP for FIGURE SKATING was launched yesterday in the ice rink of Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi , which is considered the first event of its kind in the Middle East.

 

The competition is being held under the guidance and the attention of  Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, “chairwoman of the board of directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Ladies Club”, and under the supervision of the International Skating Union, and was organized by the UAE ICE SPORTS FEDERATION in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council , Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and Abu Dhabi Ice Sports Club  and under the sponsorship of “ana zahra,” and the magazine “zahrat al khaleej.” 

 

the opening included an official speech &  some special shows presented by a professional group of girls and women, which won great admiration and filled the ski lounge with the applause of the audience, the opening ceremony was attended by Board members of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri , H.E. Amal Al Afifi, and Also Ms. Amal Bushallakh member Board of the Football Association & the general secretary of the Football Committee for Women.

 

The results achieved by the participating players which their numbers have reached to 29 player, representing 12 countries, including (United Arab Emirates, Australia, Georgia, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Luxembourg, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Austria),, the Australian winner of the advanced novice  short program category corina ormston with a total 25.98 points, in second place came joyce selling chan from Hong Kong with 23.26 points, and in third place came Rose Robinson with 21.40 points, while in the fourth place came our promising player sheikh al dhairi with the total of 14.17 points.

 

In the category of basic novice free skate , came the Austrian alicia schuster in the first place with a total of 32.55 points, and succeeded her in the second place our player amira Eid mubarak with 19.54 points, the Australian chastidy came in third place with 18.93 points, in the fourth place came  leonie ghraizi with a total score of 18.70 points , while in the fifth place came to our emerging skilled player m. graham albolushi with 15.92 points.

 

In the category of junior short program the Irish ciara hoey won the first place with 24.93 points, the Russian Amira Abdul Moati came in second place with 19.20 points.

 

the Greek player schuster vellissariou succeeded in the senior ladies after short program title by obtaining the first place with 41.64 points, followed by Ukrainian anastasiya kononenko with 40.29 points, were the Irish clara peters came in the third place with 27.97 points, and in the fourth place came our star zahra Lari with 25.81 points. 

 

In the end of the first day competitions, H.E. Amal Al Afifi “Board member of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy” and the representatives of the International Skating Union and the UAE ice sports federation representatives has crowned the winners of each category.

From her side H.E Amal Al Afifi , has expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation for the support provided by H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak "Mother of the Nation,”President of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation Chairwoman of the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood to the march of progress women's sport, praising the interest of Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairwoman of the board of directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, she has also extended her thanks and appreciation to Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the UAE ice sports Federation and all the sponsors & contributors to the success of the FBMA CUP for FIGURE SKATING, this internationally classified event was able to achieve a significant interaction along with the participation of many international professional players.
