FATIMA BINT MUBARAK LADIES SPORTS ACADEMY PROMOTED THE CULTURE OF SPORTS AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AMONG WOMEN DURING THE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

The Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy held various health awareness seminars to promote women's cancer prevention, during this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Dr. Aysha Al Dhaheri, Head of the Health Promotion Department and Dr Maryam Al-Wahidi, Acting Director of the Community Health Department at the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, took part of educational videos on social media addressing the most important factors of the breast cancer and its symptoms. The videos also highlighted the disease’s prevention methods and modern techniques in early detection, including examination radiography.

 

The Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy also pursued in its strategy in creating opportunities to enhance the participation of women in the field of sports, organizing friendly basketball and volleyball matches. These sporting events helped in raising the players’ physical skill level and enhanced their technical skills in shooting and defence via intensive training sessions. The games help in developing the players’ physical abilities as they acquired new techniques that will help them compete in the next season. The athletes also engaged in intense team tactical exercises that enhanced their mental and physical health.

 

The academy also made a strong presence in the 9th International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH) Congress, the world’s largest physical activity and health congress, which was hosted by Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC), held for the first time in Abu Dhabi, to promote the adoption of physical activity across all age groups in the society. During the conference, Amna Al Muhairi - Captain of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Basketball Team addressed the importance of the health and fitness through the practice of physical activities and encourages women to participate in various sports activities for a healthier lifestyle in a more active society.

 

A ‘community tour’ for breast cancer awareness was organized on Al Hudayriat Island, in a safe and comfortable environment, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, which welcomed various members of the community. The tour raised awareness on the culture of practicing sports in encouraging exercises and physical activities meeting the needs of the community.

 

The Academy provided opportunities for more women to join sporting events and activities it organizes by registering on the official website and participating in races, seminars and all community events under its umbrella in cooperation with partners and sponsors.
