UAE Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Media, H.E. Noura Al Kaabi, is the latest high-profile name to be added to the speaker roster for next month’s International Conference of Sports for Women (ICSW). Her Excellency will bring a wealth of expertise as a leader within the fields of government, business, media and sports to the globally acclaimed conference as part of a panel discussion titled “Empowering Women: Sports and Leadership”.

ICSW is organized by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA), who are this week celebrating their seventh-year anniversary. The FBMA’s mission is to make sport an element of daily life for UAE national women of all age, background, and physical condition; to encourage Emirati women to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle; and to further instill the values of sport in the public consciousness of the UAE.

The much-anticipated conference, a key event in the FBMA calendar, was first organized in 2012, and has grown over the years to become a global platform through which sports leaders, professionals and fans can meet to discuss key issues related to women’s sports. Now in its fourth edition, ICSW 2017 will feature two keynote speeches, five panel discussions and eight workshops that will all revolve around the central theme, Inspiring Generations. The conference will also feature a marketplace that includes exhibits from sponsors and sports organizations as well as networking spaces for delegates.

One of the most influential women in the UAE, H.E. Noura Al Kaabi was recognized as a visionary leader from early on in her career. In 2013 she became the first UAE National to feature in Foreign Policy Magazine’s ‘Top 100 Global Thinkers’ list. In 2014 she was listed amongst Forbes Middle East’s ‘30 Most Influential Women in Government‘. She was one of the pioneers in the field of media who helped create the highly successful commercial arm of the Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority, twofour54. Today, she heads up twofour54 and sits on the chair of the Media Zone Authority.

In 2016, H.E. Noura Al Kaabi was appointed as Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, acting as the key facilitator between the cabinet and the Federal National Council. In 2017, she was appointed as the Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Media Company’s Board of Directors. Alongside her expertise in media and government affairs, Her Excellency has also established a stellar career for herself within the field of sports, currently acting as a board member of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), the number one authority in sports within the UAE capital, and the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy. Today, she is leading organization in charge of delivering the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, as the CEO of the Local Organizing Committee.

Earlier this year, HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was announced as the conference’s first keynote speaker. Meanwhile, H.E. Noura Al Kaabi joins ICSW 2017’s stellar line-up of panelists and speakers that includes Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi woman to ever scale Mount Everest, Sister Madonna, the ‘Iron Nun’, the oldest record holder in Ironman triathlons, May El Khalil, founder of the world renowned Beirut Marathon, Loretta Claiborne, Special Olympics Inc. icon and global speaker, Julie Kitchen, the 14-time Muay Thai World Champion, Samar Nassar, the Jordanian Olympian and CEO of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2016, Kate Bosomworth, founder of the globally acclaimed ”This Girl Can” campaign, and Tricia Thompson, the former Director of Cycling at SKY TV.
