Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Joins Zayed Sports Tournament this Ramadan

 

- FBMA is organising Basketball, Handball, and Archery events for ladies in collaboration with Armed Forces Officers Club

- Ladies are encouraged to register for the tournament to enjoy sports activities, develop their athletic skills, and win cash prizes

                                                                                                                 

The Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) and the Armed Forces Officers Club announced FBMA’s participation in the 23rd Zayed Sports Tournament, which will kick off in Abu Dhabi during the Holy Month of Ramadan, on Thursday, 9 May 2019. Zayed Sports tournament will give ladies all over the UAE a chance to enjoy a variety of sports, develop their athletic skills, and win valuable prizes.

 

The tournament will feature 16 different sports activities including basketball, football, swimming, judo, jiu-jitsu, muay thai, chess, volleyball and gymnastics, which will take place at the Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel, Yas Marina Circuit, Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, and other locations.

 

During a press conference held at Armed Forces Officers Club, on Wednesday, 24 April, and in the attendance of representatives from FBMA, the Armed Forces Officers Club and the Women’s Football Committee (WFC), the Academy revealed its first participation in Zayed Sports Tournament, with activities tailored to women in the UAE community. In collaboration with the Armed Forces Officers Club, FBMA will be organising three new ladies-only sports tournaments this year, which are Basketball, Handball, and Archery.

 

The Basketball tournament will be held Thursday, 9 May at Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, and will include cash prizes of 45,000 AED, where 20,000 AED will go to the first place winner, 15,000 AED to the second place winner, and 10,000 AED to the third place winner.

 

The Archery tournament will then take place on Wednesday, 15 May at Abu Dhabi Cricket Club, and will include cash prizes of 10,000 AED, where 4,000 AED will go to the first place winner, 3,000 AED to the second place winner, 2,000 AED to the third place winner, and 1,000 AED to the fourth place winner.

 

The Handball tournament will take place on Thursday, 16 May at Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, and will include cash prizes of 30,000 AED, where 15,000 AED will go to the first place winner, 10,000 AED to the second place winner, and 5,000 AED to the third place winner.

 

Moreover, similar to the previous year, the Women’s Football Committee (WFC) will be organising a football tournament during the Holy Month, which aims to encourage girls from all over the world to compete in a friendly football game, and win cash prizes as a token of gratitude to their participation and their athletic skills.

 

FBMA representative, Fatima Al Ameri, said: “As we are approaching Zayed Sports tournament, one of the leading sporting events in the country, held in honour of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, I would like to wish all the ladies the best of luck in the tournament, as we always strive to increase the number of aspiring and talented female athletes in the UAE, encourage their participation in sports events and enhance their presence in global sports tournaments.”

Tina Pavlova, Leisure Director at The Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel said: “I am very pleased to announce that we will be hosting the 23rd Zayed Sports Tournament during the Holy Month of Ramadan, which brings people together. This year Zayed Sports Tournament targets people of different age groups, different nationalities, professional athletes, amateurs, and even people of determination, as our objective is to involve the whole community in our activities and promote wellness and fair competition.”  

Abdul Razzaq Al Kaabi, General Coordinator of Women’s Football Committee, added: “Zayed Sports Tournament involves teams from all over the world where this year we will see new international teams participating in the tournament, along with our great national teams, which include the United Arab Emirates women's national football team and other national sports entities”, wishing the participating teams the best of luck.                                                                                                                 

Tournaments like Zayed Sports Tournament spread positive vibes during the Holy Month of Ramadan and encourage ladies to keep involved in sports at all times. Participation fees range from 500 AED per team for the Basketball tournament, 300 AED per team for the Handball tournament, and 75 AED per team for the Archery tournament.
