Description
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood; and H.H. Sheikha Fatima BintHazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA), and Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, the FBMA is organizing this November its first Sports Federation Management Forum in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Objective
The Forum will mark the first step towards institutionalizing the working relationships of the Academy with the Sports Federations in Abu Dhabi and the other Emirates, and in particular with the women departments of each federation. In doing so, the FBMA will strengthen existing ties and relations and secure greater cooperation towards developing women sports in the UAE.
The FBMA, as the recognized authority mandated to supervise and advance women sports across the country, is looking to further invest in current collaborations and find ways in which it can assist the Federations in catering for female athletes' needs in a structured and regular manner.
At the end of this year's Forum, which is envisaged to be the inaugural session in a series of annual Forums, the Academy aims to have a thorough understanding of Federations achievements to-date, plans for future development, as well as ways and means through which Federations believe they can benefit from the Academy's resources.
Program and participation
The program will start with an opening presentation by Dr. Vassil Girginov, Reader in Sport Management/Development at Brunel University. Dr. Girginov will speak about women sports management and will in turn open the floor to the Federations to discuss their own practices, achievements and future plans. He will then moderate the open discussion that will follow.
As a closed meeting the Forum invites participation of Sports Federations officials, namely the Managing Director/CEO and an official from the women's department.
The Forum will be held on Tuesday 24 November at 11:00-15:00 at The Intercontinental in Abu Dhabi.
