FATIMA BINT MUBARAK LADIES SPORTS ACADEMY
1ST PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS FORUM

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood; and H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA), and Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, the FBMA in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) are organising this September the first-ever Physical Education (PE) Teachers Forum, which will take place on 15 September 2015 at the Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Objective:
Coinciding with the beginning of the school year, the PE Teachers Forum aims to bring together PE teachers from mixed and girls-only government and private schools across Abu Dhabi and the Emirates, with a view to facilitate an open discussion and exchange on the PE curriculum in the country. The Forum will take stock of the way and means by which youth is introduced to sports at school and how sport participation can be further encouraged through existing education mechanisms.
Programme :
The Forum will revolve around the four following thematic areas 45 min each, guided by presentations of distinguished international professors in the sports field:
- Pedagogy, Given by Ms. Sandra Geringer : what is the best approach to teaching PE and how can we encourage more participation and reward talent?
- Sociology, Given by Dr. Dikaia Chatzieftsathiou: why are sports important for a healthy and sustainable society, and how do sports empower girls to become strong women?
- Psychology, Given by Dr. Nikolaos Digelidis: what is the role of the teacher-student relation in defining sport participation for a student, and how does it impact their performance?
- Sports & Health, Given by Dr.Osama Kamel Ali Alalla: what can PE teachers do in order to inspire a healthy and active lifestyle and diet, away from eating disorders and stress?

Who can participate?
The Forum is open to all PE teachers from mixed and girls-only government and private schools across UAE. Participation will be free.
