Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation "Mother of the Nation" and under the directives of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi ladies Club and Al Ain Ladies Club.

 

The Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy has announced the launch of the sixth edition of the " Fatima Bint Mubarak International Blitz Chess Tournament -Ladies," which will take place at the Academy's premises on April 27th, following the Swiss system with 7 rounds of rapid play.

 

 

Representing the Fatima bint Mubarak Academy, Mr. Abdullah Al-Tamimi emphasized that the launch of the current edition of the championship aligns with its strategic vision to promote the game, following the successes achieved in previous editions, both organizationally and technically.

 

He added, "The Academy has seen a noticeable increase in female participation by Emirati players during the previous editions of the championship, amidst the growing popularity of the game locally, regionally, and internationally. The UAE, and specifically Abu Dhabi, have played a significant role in hosting more chess championships recently, contributing to its support."

 

He further explained that the previous edition of the championship witnessed the introduction of competitions for youth categories both genders, for the first time, aiming to enhance intergenerational communication, a tradition that will continue in the current edition.

 

Regarding the tournament focus on rapid chess, he stated that this decision was based on the academy's annual plan and the success and popularity achieved by rapid chess competitions among community members in the past period.
