Al Qalamoun Lebanese Team Crowned Champions of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Volleyball Cup for Ladies 2024

The Al Qalamoun Lebanese team was crowned champion of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Volleyball Cup for Ladies 2024 after winning the final match against the Kuwaiti "Fatayat Al Oyoun" team in straight sets. The scores of the sets were 25-19, 25-22, and 25-16. The tournament was held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, known as the "Mother of the Nation." The event was also organized under the guidance of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, and Chairwoman of both the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and the Al Ain Ladies Club.
The final match saw the attendance of several prominent figures and officials who praised the excellent organization of the tournament and the high level of performance displayed by the participating teams. They emphasized the importance of such events in promoting women's sports in the UAE and the region.
In her remarks on the occasion, Shamsa Al Hanaee, Board Member at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, highlighted the significance of this tournament, which has become a leading platform for supporting and developing women’s sports in the region. She stated, “We are extremely pleased with the success of this year's edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Volleyball Cup for Ladies. We witnessed exceptional performances from all the participating teams, and the Al Qalamoun Lebanese team deservedly claimed the title after delivering an outstanding level throughout the competition."
She added, "The success of this tournament reflects the academy's commitment to supporting female athletes and empowering them in all fields. The large audience turnout and widespread engagement demonstrate the importance of such events in developing women's athletic abilities and enhancing the status of women's sports in the local and regional sporting scene."
She expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all the Arab teams that participated in the tournament, noting that the level of competition was exceptionally high, contributing to the tournament's success and the strong matches, which showcased the progress of women’s sports in the Arab world.
Meanwhile, the star player and the captain from the Al Qalamoun Lebanese team, Mirna Sheikho, expressed her great joy at achieving this historic victory for her team. She said, “This win is the culmination of the tremendous efforts we put into the tournament, and we are proud of what we have achieved. The final match was a significant challenge against the Kuwaiti Fatayat Al Oyoun team, but the team spirit and focus on winning helped us secure this achievement. I thank my teammates and the coaching staff for their continuous support, and I also extend my thanks to the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for organizing a tournament of such high caliber. This tournament was a unique experience that helped us improve our skills, and we look forward to participating in future editions to defend our title."
The Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy Volleyball team secured third place after defeating the Egyptian 6th of October team in the third-place match.
