Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy held two cultural workshops, under the title of "Healthy Habits during Ramadan”

On Thursday, April 14th, Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy held two cultural workshops, under the title of "Healthy Habits during Ramadan”, the morning seminar was dedicated in collaboration to Etihad Airways Medical Center and Burjeel Hospital, the Medical Partner. The seminar was held at Etihad Airways headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

Dr.Ghada Al Hadrami, MD BcS. Dupty of wellness committee at Etihad Airways said: “Eating and sleeping habits change during the month of Ramadan, while fasting is one of the best health practices for the body. These changes have direct effect on the human body and mind, so we were keen to hold this seminar with FBMA and Burjeel Hospital to address the most important health habits. Through our experience in aviation medicine, healthy lifestyle is a necessity due to the nature of our employees’ work that requires them to travel and work during rest hours, which is similar to fasting to some extent. Hence, our role is to educate everyone about the need to adhere to a balanced health system.
During the seminar, we discussed habits that make our fasting healthy in the holy month, explored ways to avoid fatigue during fasting and the possibility of fasting for people with chronic diseases. We also discussed the long-term benefits and importance of exercising during this period, in addition to how to deal with stress at work and its negative effects.”

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Omar, Consultant General Surgery and CEO of Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, “We are pleased to be part of the implementation of the Academy’s mission towards promoting the public health of the community. Burjeel Hospital supports this lofty vision and we affirm our readiness to support in raising community health awareness in the blessed month of Ramadan”

Another lecture was held virtually later, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, the Strategic Partner, and was presented to Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, the Main Banking Partner. The lecture presented the employees with rich advices on healthy habits to incorporate in their daily routines, approaching the holy month in a healthy way, complimenting FBMA’s mission in providing programs which aim to spread knowledge and build a healthy and safe lifestyle and community.

H.E. Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri, Executive Director – Health Community, ADPHC, said: “The holy month offers us the perfect opportunity to focus on our health. The seminars held by H.H. Fatima Bint Mubarak’s Women’s Sports Academy and its partners align with ADPHC’s efforts in advancing awareness to encourage community members to adopt healthy eating habits and consume nutritious food, both during and after Ramadan. We are invested in the community and our strategic ambition to improve the health and wellbeing of Abu Dhabi residents and citizens.”

 

Ms. Maryam Talib Al Tamimi, Head of Channel Management & transformation, Chairwoman of Estidama Council expressed her gratitude for holding such seminars in collaboration with different governmental institutions, stating: "We extend our sincere gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak! ADIB is pleased and keen to cooperate with FBMA in these cultural workshops organized under the title "Healthy Habits in Ramadan” We aim to support and strengthen the efforts applied by the academy to promote positive habits and healthy lifestyle within the community.”

Throughout the lectures and workshops presented, health specialists highlighted the importance and value of the holy month of Ramadan in incorporating healthy changes and adapting valuable healthy eating habits, staying away from false eating habits which can be widespread unknowingly, and the scientifically proven benefits of fasting in preventing & preserving our health from various illnesses. Health specialists pointed out that practicing false eating habits and passive routines during fasting can affect your health negatively, result in weight gain, and slow down the metabolic rates of the organism which leads to health complications build-up.

Furthermore, FBMA organized a virtual seminar on April 18th on Instagram Live (@ADFBMA) in collaboration with its Strategic Partner, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, presented by Dr. Aysha Al Dhaheri, Section Head Health Promotion – targeting different segments of society to further discuss and elaborate on healthy habits during the holy month of Ramadan.

The importance of the seminars and workshops presented is crucial in enlightening and spreading sound knowledge within the society, which in turn encourages to adopt healthy habits on an individual level, and share the message along, promoting energetic and healthy wellbeing for fasting individuals, and reduce the chances of stress and fatigue, while wishing everyone a healthy and spiritual holy month of Ramadan and pointing to the importance of sharing the good with one another.
