Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy Higher Education Sports Federation Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Higher Education Sports Federation, launching a new phase of cooperation between the two parties in the field of disseminating and implementing women's sports at the level of higher education institutions in the UAE. This came during a press conference held at Abu Dhabi Sports Council on Wednesday morning (28 August).

The memorandum was signed by Dr. Omniyat Al-Hajri, a Board Member of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Ladies Sports, and Dr. Saeed Hamad Al-Hassani, Chairman of the Higher Educatio6n Sports Federation in the presence of Dr. Hamad Karam. Dr. Omniyat opened the press conference, to sign the agreement, with a welcoming speech congratulating the women of the country on the occasion of Emiratis Women's Day, which was devoted by the leadership of our wise state by believing in the importance of the contributions of the UAE women and their role in the development of the country. It is in this spirit that our beloved country celebrates the march of the successes of its daughters and their outstanding achievements, which have been able to persistently gain their prominence in the society. She also thanked Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, , for her unlimited support to the Emirati women. The agreement stipulates that the two parties will work to support and facilitate the role of women in sports, in addition to providing all possibilities for girls and students to practice sports in order to achieve their goals and then encourage talent through sports training and provide logistical support under the supervision of trainers in various sports and to move forward. It also included the formation of technical committees to oversee the sport programs held by educational institutions and universities and to propose what it deems appropriate for future plans. The two parties agreed to cooperate with each other to promote the activation and development of women's sports activities at universities and higher education institutions in the UAE, to ensure the continuity of female students' participation in sports after graduation from secondary school and to enter university life to become a basic habit in their daily life in order to build a healthy generation. It is of great importance to contribute to the building of society and to the development of the state. This initiative coincided with the Year of Tolerance, building bridges of communication, creativity and non-discrimination between the sexes through attention to the sport of women and the need to provide the appropriate infrastructure for them, and the development of hard work strategies, so that women can prove themselves, and achieve the success they aspire to. HE Dr. Saeed Al-Hassani, President of the Sports Federation of Higher Education Institutions, stressed the importance of emulating the UAE's wise leadership approach towards this important sector and its keenness to empower the young women of the homeland and enhance their role and sports position in society. This has reinforced its prestige internationally and the hosting of our country for world sporting events and attained advanced positions globally. 

Dr. Omniyat Al-Hajri also said, “The aim of this agreement is to encourage female students in higher education institutions to practice sports more and excel in them as they’ve always had, and to increase their participation in local and international championships. In addition to taking sport as a way of life and to increase awareness in their communities to serve this generous country. The efforts of Emirati women empowerment have exceeded ambitions, and the Emirati women have proven their superiority in many different areas and particularly in sports.”.
