FBMA TO SERVE UP 1ST TABLE TENNIS CUP THIS APRIL

 The Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) was delighted to announce the 1st FBMA Table Tennis Cup today, with the ladies only competition is set to take place on 5-6 April of this year.

Ladies of all nationalities are encouraged to take part in this inaugural event that will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Abu Dhabi Ladies Club (ADLC). And furthermore, this competition is for all capabilities, so whether you’re a seasoned player or picking up the paddle for the first time, this event welcomes all. The two-day competition is in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates Table Tennis Federation, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and ADLC.

In today’s press conference at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the outlying details of the competition were shared with the media, where Fatima Al Ameri, spokesperson for the Academy, took the opportunity to say: “The 1st edition of the FBMA Table Tennis Cup is yet another example of how the Academy strives to develop and facilitate women’s sports in the UAE, as well as inspire behavioural change amongst the community in favour of an active lifestyle with, and through sports.

“On behalf of everyone at the Academy, I would like to wish each and every participant the best of luck on the 5th and 6th of April, and we hope you enjoy this inaugural event as much as we will.”

Also in attendance today was as Majd Mohammed Al Baloushi, Board Member of the UAE Table Tennis Federation, said: "We are very pleased with our partnership with the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy. We are always keen to work together with the Academy as one of the most important institutions supporting women's sport in the UAE. Based on the endless support and attention paid by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, may God protect her and empower her to enhance women's status in Emirati society.

"This tournament is a solid demonstration of the continuation of the women’s sports movement in the UAE, and will become an important pillar for women's table tennis players,” continued Al Bloushi. We hope to see strong Emirati players emerge, where we can showcase new, talented ladies from the capital."
